Approved Filler and Approved Handler Test Certificate Training

Approved Filler Compliance Certificate Training and On Line Renewals

RLNZ courses comply with the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 relating to Approved Filler requirements.

Refrigerant License Trust Board (RLTB) was established by CCCANZ and IRHACE, with funding provided by refrigerant levy collection, to develop and provide refrigerant filler and handler training and certification for HVAC&R practitioners.

Refrigerant License courses are specifically designed for the HVAC&R industry and presented by experienced industry practitioners; enabling the refrigeration and air conditioning industry to meet its legislative responsibilities to demonstrate competence in the safe handling, filling and management of refrigerant gases.

Upon successful completion of the Approved Filler course, engineers and technicians are registered with WorkSafe New Zealand as an Approved Filler and details are available through the Refrigerant License Approved Filler database.

On 25 November 2011, the Commerce Commission approved RLTB’s application for restricting sales of refrigerant to those persons who have evidence of certification to safely handle refrigerant. The restriction of sales by supporting wholesalers commenced 1 January 2015.

Certificates are valid for five years.  At the end of the five year period certificates can be renewed.  RLNZ offer online renewal courses tailored specifically to the HVAC&R industry.  The RLNZ renewal is also available to people who completed their original approved filler certificate training through a different provider.
