World Refrigeration Day was introduced for the first time in 2019 to raise community awareness about the role of the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) industry in supporting modern life and society. Years in the planning, this inaugural refrigeration celebration took place on June 26, the birthdate of Lord Kelvin. Trade Associations and industry groups from the United States, India, Pakistan, Philipines, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Africa the Middle East and across Europe and more gave their formal support for the day.
The Initiative raised the profile of the important contribution that HVAC&R make globally across so many aspects of modern life - from medical to food supply and farming, process engineering to data and IT, refrigeration technologies are essential and yet go widely unrecognised.
